Safety and Driver-Assistance Features on Hyundai

Have peace of mind whenever you’re on the road with Hyundai’s cutting-edge suite of safety features. These features can help prevent or reduce the impact of collisions. Think of these features as an extra set of eyes on the road; you can drive confidently knowing your vehicle has your back. Keep reading to learn which features are available with Hyundai SmartSense.

Hyundai SmartSense Features

Hyundai’s new vehicles are equipped with Hyundai SmartSense, making your daily commute more convenient. These features will help monitor your surroundings using cameras, ultrasonic sensors, and radars, and if a potential collision is detected, it will alert the driver to take corrective action. Check out the features available with Hyundai SmartSense:

  • Forward-Collision Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection – If your vehicle detects a forward collision, the driver will be alerted, and the emergency brakes will be applied if the driver does not take corrective action.
  • High Beam Assist – If an approaching vehicle is detected when your headlights are on, the vehicle will automatically switch between low and high beams.
  • Lane Following Assist – Your vehicle will detect the lane marking when taking a curve and help keep your vehicle centered in the designated lane.
  • Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist – If you’re signaling that you intend to make a lane change, this feature can monitor your blind spot for approaching vehicles in the adjacent lane; if a vehicle is detected, the driver will be alerted, and your vehicle will prevent the collision by applying the right or left front brakes.
  • Driver Attention Warning – Your vehicle will monitor your attention level, and if it detects that your attention is decreasing, it will alert you and display a message that it’s time to stop and rest.
  • Lane Keeping Assist – This feature will monitor the lane markings. If an unintentional lane change is detected, an alert will sound, and then corrective measures will be taken to keep your vehicle in the detected lane.
  • Blind-Spot View Monitor – When you’re trying to make a lane change, the vehicle uses cameras to provide a live feed of your spot on the instrument cluster.

There are also several standard and available safety features available on Hyundai vehicles that are not included in Hyundai SmartSense:

  • Surround View Monitor – Exterior cameras project a 360-degree bird’s eye view of your surroundings on your instrument cluster.
  • Safe Exit Warning – When you and your passengers are exiting a vehicle, this feature will monitor the surroundings for approaching vehicles. If a vehicle is detected, an alert will sound to prevent the passengers from exiting.
  • Parking Distance Warning – Front and Reverse – When you’re parking, the vehicle uses sensors and radars on the rear and front bumper to detect if you’re getting too close to an object.
  • Rear Occupant Alert – This feature will remind you to check your rear seats for pets and children before you exit your vehicle.
